Girls Weekend Away

This last weekend, Lisa and Maisie went with Chani and I to Chattanooga, Tennessee for a girls weekend away. We had a blast doing all sorts of things. We started the weekend off with an early check in to the Chattanooga Choo Choo where we grabbed some quick naps and then headed out for a visit to the Chattanooga Aquarium. Since I have been there last, they had added a second building which was fun to walk around. After the aquarium, we grabbed some dinner and headed back to our hotel. Chani and I walked up through the gardens and among the lit torches. It was rather beautiful although a bit cold. We did a bit of shopping and then headed back to our room for the night.

The next day, we went to breakfast and then headed out to the Creative Discovery Museum. This place was pretty cool. They had so many areas and hands on for the kids. I think they really loved it. It would be cool to have one closer so we could have play dates there. It was really something. One of the special things they had was a craft station where the kids decorated placemats. They then took them and gave them to the meals on wheels program when they delivered food to the needy. I thought this was really special and Chani even made two for them. Great idea!! After the museum, we headed back for the naps and later on that evening, we headed to the Tennessee Valley Railroad to hop on the Polar Express train to the North Pole. There wasn't much available for dinner so we settled on a sandwich and made due with what we had. We then boarded the train and went for a ride. We saw lights, listened to the Polar Express story, had milk and cookies and finally we saw Santa Claus. Santa boarded the train and talked to each of the kids on the ride back. Maisie even allowed him to hold her. Unlike Chani who was too frightened and didn't want a thing to do with him. That ended our night.

The next morning, we packed up the car, had a final breakfast and headed out to the Chattanooga zoo. We were the only ones there and had the place to ourselves. We bundled up and walked though the exhibits. We saw deer, red pandas, goats, camels, snow leopards, chimpanzees among a few other animals. It was a small zoo but it was pretty nice. In fact, all four activities we did were all rather nice. It was a fabulous weekend and only a couple hours away. It was so nice to get away and spend some quality time with my little girl. She is growing so fast and changes constantly. I love seeing the world through her eyes.
