These past couple of weeks, I have been busy collecting stuff that Chani has outgrown. All her old outfits that I originally got from a consignment, bottles and misc things of which she has no use anymore. I've organized it, tagged it, and counted it.
In Georgia, as I'm sure in a few other states, they have consignment sales twice a year. They are different from the stores that are permanantly there. The one I signed up for is for the Fall/Winter season and it's one of the largest sales in Georgia with over 500 sellers. I signed up early and in order to guarantee a seller's spot, you needed to volunteer to work a four hour shift, helping with the sale. Today was my day to work, organizing the stuff. I got up and headed over to the fairgrounds. They have two large buildings and a huge tent outside. One building was for clothes on hangers, the other one is for small toys and other stuff. All the big stuff was outside in the tent. I was assigned linens so once the sellers dropped off their stuff into large bins, the volunteers sorted them down further. I was on my feet the entire time but it went so fast and it was really a lot of fun. The other perk about volunteering is that you get to go to the presale before the general public. So, Wednesday afternoon, I'll be heading over there once again to shop early. (The sale doesn't start until Thursday.) I've only been to one other presale and loved it. You get the first shot at the stuff. I am really excited to go. Then, early Saturday evening, after Briana's birthday party, I get to go back the final time, pick up my check and anything that I didn't mark "donate". I just hope everything sales and I make lots of money!!

This morning, Chani and met our friends Christy and Katie, Jessica and Gray, Tammi and Kylie and Ali and Caleb at a new-to-me park. This was a really nice park, lots of trees, play areas, a shelter house and a wading stream. It was really a neat place with lots of photo ops. We spent the morning playing in the water and then having a picnic.
Last night a very few theaters were having a one night only showing of Matt's favorite all time movie, WarGames. We have this on DVD and have watched it every so often but we couldn't pass on seeing it on the big screen. It was one of those "go to support your husband" kind of things. We decided that it would be a trial run for leaving Chani with a sitter. We got dressed up, packed her enough food, snacks and clothing for an overnight trip and then some. We took her down to Debbie's and said our goodbyes and quickly left.
We drove down to Atlantic Station which is a pretty neat little area, parked and looked for a place to eat dinner. We settled on a cheesecake factory like place but it wasn't much to write about. During the meal, I decided to give Debbie a call to find out how things were going.
Chani decided that she really wanted her Daddy and cried and asked for him for about 30 minutes. She hadn't eaten yet as it was just a bit too early before we had to make the drive to Debbie's. So, Debbie fixed her an egg and Chani loved it and kept signing more so she fixed her a second one which she gobbled up. Well, since she was still upset about us leaving, she threw it up so a bath was in order. Debbie put both girls in the sink and let them play. Chani loves baths, showers, swimming, anything water so she was doing much better. She did eventually fall asleep after Debbie worked her magic with reflexology.
Back to me - I had a hard time hearing that she cried for so long and the vomiting part but we decided to go to the movie after all. Since it was the 25th anniversary of the show, they did interviews with the characters. This was done to introduce a sequel movie thing so we got a sneak preview to that. I'm sure that's as much of it as we'll ever see. Once the movie began and shortly into it, I started feeling really guilty and missing her. When there was about 15 minutes left of the movie, the screen went blank. A few minutes later, the house lights went up and an employee told us that this was a satellite feed and they would have to call the company to see what happened. It turned out that it would be back on in about ten minutes. We were each given two free tickets to come back and we could wait it out to see the ending. We decided to wait and I took the opportunity to check on Chani. She was fast asleep, curled up with Li Li. Awwww - Once we made it outside, the weather was perfect. Not too hot and being around lots of city lights around shops just feels great to me. We didn't stay though and instead, found our car and headed back to Debbies. She met us at the door with a very sleepy little girl who only wanted Daddy. She fell asleep in the car and easily went back down once at home. She was all tuckered out. Thank you so much Debbie for last night and also for always being there for us. I know it did Chani good to have to depend on someone else for a few hours. Next time should be easier, although not for a very long time. I missed her just too much.

Okay, all along when Chani starts to cry when she doesn't want to leave me or when it's time for bed and she would cry, Matt kept telling me that she was just throwing a tantrum. I kept telling him, no it's not a tantrum, she is just upset. Well, today we witnessed her first "real" one. I got her up from her afternoon nap, brought her downstairs and set her down, just like every other time I get her up. I walked into the livingroom and she started screaming. I told her to come to me if she wanted me to hold her but she squatted down and then before I knew it, she was down on all fours, crying and screaming. All because I walked away from her. It lasted maybe 30 seconds and when she realized that I was NOT going to pick her up, she got up and came to me. I then held her and made her say she was sorry. She calmed down and now is as pleasant as can be, wearing her new shoes and running in circles around the staircases.

Second Annual Bloggy Bash
Thank you SeaStar for putting it together. It is fabulous!!
While we're on the subject, I'd like to thank everyone for all the kindness you have shown to Chani and me. We are amazed at all the fun stuff she received in her goodie bags. You guys are awesome!

We are both still fighting colds. She is still running like a faucet and it just keeps coming. I don't know where it's all coming from. Her face seems to be constantly wet from all the snot and drool. I hope it dries up soon. I want to also thank everyone who gave me suggestions on what to do. I got out the humidifier and put it in her room. I also tried Motrin, Tylenol and Benedryl, all at different times of course. I also used the Vicks baby rub stuff on her chest at night too. I hope it dries up soon.

Okay, from all those been there done that mommies, how do I deal with a runny nose? Both she and I ended up getting sick yesterday. I have a terrible sore throat and a bit of sneezing. She has a bit of sneezing but now has a runny nose. It is clear, so far. She seemed fine when I put her down last night but she woke up about an hour later sounding congested. She also kept swallowing like her throat was sore too. How do I know if it is and what should I do about it? She is nowhere near bad enough for a doctor visit. I just don't want her to feel bad. Thanks!!

This last weekend, a bunch of bloggy mamas gathered for the second annual bash. Since we're fairly local, we arrived on Saturday around 1:00 just for the day and met up with a bunch friends that we met last year, along with some new ones. We had a fabulous time swimming around and hanging out in the pool. Chani really enjoyed swimming and playing with Briana getting on and off the floats. She then surprised me a little when she sat with Alison for awhile during Heather's surprise baby shower. Alison had Chani doing her aww-so-sweet belly laughs. She really doesn't laugh belly laughs like she did too much so it's always such a sweet sound when she does. I told Chani to dance for the girls but at that moment, she decided that she wanted to show them her belly button so up her dress went. Chani also enjoyed running around and chasing Maisie, back and forth, back and forth, just before we left. She did really well considering a very short nap while in the car and leaving way past her bedtime. I think she was exhausted by the time we did leave. We decided to spend the night in a hotel and save the two hour drive for the next day. I'm so glad that we did this. It really gave us some quality Mommy/Daughter time. I think Daddy had a good time having the house all to himself too.
PugMama and BigDaddy - Thank you so very much for opening up your home and having everyone come. You guys have super huge hearts and I'm so glad that we're friends. I can't wait until your little one comes home.

One regular MD, one chiropractor and one surgeon later, I'm back to standing straight. No surgery is required and my back appears healthy. I start physical therapy this next week so hopefully the pain will go away too.

Yesterday we had a very low key fourth of July. We started the day with placing flags outside the front door. We then went down to Marietta Square and walked around the vendors. They had all kinds of crafts and tons of inflatables. Chani is a bit too young to jump on those. She isn't into jumping quite yet so we didn't get to go on them. We walked through some antique stores and gift stores to get into some air conditioning. It was pretty warm out there. Even though we didn't do much, the little one was all tuckered out. Here are a few pictures from yesterday. Hope you all had a great day!

Okay, so I haven't been blogging much. Not because I don't have things to record which is a lot of the reason why I blog, but, because I just have no inspiration or time to do it. I don't comment much on others blogs anymore either. Most of the time, I just don't have all that much to say. Then, I think, what's wrong with me? Why can't I come up with something witty to say but all I get is a blank comment block and empty thoughts for words to say so I just leave without saying anything at all. I find that I do that a lot in person too. I guess I'm just not a talker. But then, I feel guilty because people are so caring and gracious when they comment on mine. Again, what is wrong with me? I also don't like getting all mushy on comments either, although sometimes I do and a lot of times, the blogs bring tears to my eyes but I just can't come up with something. So, if I have commented on your blog before, know that I'm reading it but just not saying so.
With the blog, I want to be able to look back and see the different things that have happened throughout the long wait and the beginning years of her life with us. It has been an amazing ride and every day I am so thankful that we have her. She may push my buttons at times but what child doesn't?
Anyhow, this week, Lisa & Briana, Debbie and Li Li and Chani and I all went to pick some blueberries. It was a lot of fun. My crazy little girl didn't much like picking them off the bush but once I let her eat a couple, she went nuts for them. She would eat them right out of the bucket. After we were done, we came back to my place and the girls played and played. Lisa summed up the day quite nicely on her blog. Here are a few more pictures of the day. She also summed up our play date too that we had earlier. Debbie, Ian, Li Li, Chani and I went back yesterday but the blueberries had been picked over quite a bit by then. Debbie got a great shot of Chani picking one. I'll post it once she uploads it.
Picking blueberries at Blueberry Hill!
Playing at the house.
After everyone left and later that afternoon, I let her go out on the deck. There is a tarp out there that had some rain water on it. I had shut the door and watched her through it. She loved playing in that little bit of water. Then, she saw me watching her and gave me the huge smile and wave.
Then, from our previous play date. I love the second to last one when Doug picked Briana back up. Chani didn't much like having to give Doug back to Briana.
Play date with Lisa, Briana and Doug.
Awhile back, Matt and I took Chani to the mall and let her play in the soft play area. There were so many kids there so we didn't stay too long. They just bulldoze their way around, whizzing right past her almost knocking her down. We also rode the carousel. We've been waiting a long time to ride this so it was a really special treat for us.
I am finally feeling better. After my family doctor, a chiropractor and finally an orthopedic surgeon, I am standing straight again and not quite so much pain. My x-rays look normal and I won't have to have surgery. Yay!!
Last weekend, we went to a Bat Mitzvah. This was our first time going to one. We watched as Sarah did her thing and did her reading, a lot of it we couldn't understand what she was saying but it was interesting to hear her speak. I even dropped a few tears listening to her parents praise her. Then the best part came, the party. Chani loves, loves loves dancing, especially if there is a dance floor. She has no inhibitions and will go out there and dance away. She always has such a great time, even if she's the only one. It was really a great day and being part of their special day. I only wish my back wasn't hurting so I could have danced.
Just because - Don't you wish you looked this cute when you wake up in the morning?
Happy 4th of July everyone!! Be safe and have a blast! We're skipping the fireworks this year. It's a bit too late for us now that we have a little one. Oh, who am I kidding, it's a bit too late for me too.
Kudos to those who read this whole thing.
