The book case is the first photo before we started. Once we moved everything out of the way, we started by taping the walls. We did the blue sky paint, pulled off the tape and painted the green. Once that was done, I painted the brown fence and then finally the crackle and top coat of white. the pickets still need the cross bar.

Well, CCAA just released the last batch of referrals through June 6, 2005 and they are done reviewing the September 2005. I was asked again yesterday if I was concerned that we wouldn't even get our little girl with the shortage of girls in China. They had seen the 60 minutes report and wondered about us. I told him no, I wasn't concerned and felt that we'll still get her. It's just a matter of time. I can only be patient at this time. There is no need to worry about it. Besides, there isn't anything I can do but wait and wait and wait.

We painted the nursery this weekend. We had originally planned on doing a picket fence but were having a hard time coming up with the background color. One day, we were walking through Home Depot and came upon these Disney colors. They had several different themes and one was Winnie the Pooh. Well, since we had just purchased the artwork on our most recent cruise of Winnie and Tigger, we thought that this would be a perfect background. The top part was painted a pastel/sky blue and had a glaze and white paint mixture to make clouds. The bottom half of the wall was a pastel green. There was a shelf between the two colors and a border on top of the shelf. Well, we have her border already and Matt wants to make the shelves. We'll still be able to do a garden theme in her room along with it matching the Pooh characters. We painted the blue and green, two coats each this last weekend. We still need to do the clouds and picket fence. I have some wooden pieces that I will paint to look like ladybugs. I also still need to make a pattern for the fence. I'll post pictures when it's all done.

When are the referrals coming??? How many days will they contain??? How soon will we get our referral??? Well, that one, all I can say is not for several months but that doesn't stop me from checking, several times a day to see if new numbers have come out. Rumors have been flying in all different directions so you can't count on any of them. We should receive the standard monthly waiting families letter from our agency next week. Hopefully it will contain something positive to say. We had absolutely no referrals last month due to it only being only very few days. It is still encouraging to see others get their call. Sometimes it's hard to be patient and sometimes it doesn't bother me as much. I have met a few local adoptive families which really helps.
Today is our closing on the old house. I am sooo happy that it's almost done and we won't have two house payments anymore. I kind of feel bad for the new owners because they already have three kids and one more on the way. I think the house is too small for them but I've heard that they are going to finish the basement and build some rooms down there. I guess they know what they are doing. Best of luck to them!
Bring on the referrals!

Today I received the diaper bag that I ordered a few days ago. I had a gift card to pay for it but for some reason I put it off. I suppose I was dealing with the fear of ordering something for her that I couldn't return. I've read lots of great reviews on this bag so I decided that it was the one that I wanted so I finally bit the bullet and placed the order. It is red with black letters that spell Chani. It is smaller than I thought it would be but it's still a great size. It has a light blue interior that makes it easy to find things that fall inside. It has so many pockets that I don't know what goes where. I did find a list online of what should be included in a diaper bag so I'll use that when I actually need it.
Here is the link to the bag. http://www.landsend.com/cd/fp/prod/0,,1_2_678_67500_120488_98935_5:view=-1,00.html?sid=4442135255915108920&CM_MERCH=SRCH
Kind of looks like her school bag?! I told Matt we would be all set for that many years down the road.
